Find Your Perfect Bra Size

Enter your measurements and discover your ideal fit across every international sizing system in seconds.

Measure snugly around your ribcage, just below your bust
Measure at the fullest point of your bust, loosely

The Snug method uses a tighter underbust measurement. Popular with UK fitters, no +4/+5 addition needed.

Pull the tape quite snug, you should barely fit two fingers
Measure at fullest point while standing, tape parallel to floor

The Loose method takes a relaxed underbust and adds inches to determine band size. Traditional US/AU department store approach.

Measure loosely, you should fit 2–3 fingers easily
Lean forward slightly for a more accurate bust measurement

The Bra Fitter Pro uses all three measurements, snug underbust, loose underbust and full bust, for the most accurate recommendation.

Firm tape, just below bust
Relaxed tape, same position

How to Use the Calculator

Getting your size is simple. Follow these steps for the most accurate result using any of our four calculation methods.

1

Grab a Soft Tape Measure

Use a flexible dressmaker's tape. Avoid stretchy or rigid tapes, they give inaccurate results. Stand straight, breathe normally.

2

Measure Your Underbust

Wrap the tape directly below your bust, against your skin. Keep it level and parallel to the floor.

3

Measure Your Full Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Keep it snug but not tight, a good fit leaves room to breathe.

4

Enter & Choose Your System

Input your measurements in inches or cm, choose your preferred sizing system, and hit Calculate.

5

Review Sister Sizes

Your results include sister sizes, alternative bands and cups that give the same cup volume for more shopping flexibility.

6

Try It On & Adjust

Use your calculated size as a starting point. Fit can vary by brand. Adjust by one size if the band feels too tight or loose.

Measurement Guide

How to Measure Correctly

Precision matters. Small errors in measurement can mean one or two sizes off. Here's exactly how to measure each area.

📏

Underbust (Band Size)

Stand straight and exhale naturally. Wrap the tape measure snugly around your torso directly underneath your breasts, where a bra band would sit. The tape should be level all the way around, check in a mirror. Round to the nearest inch or half-centimetre.

💡 Tip: Take three readings and average them for best accuracy.
🎀

Full Bust (Cup Measurement)

Lean forward slightly at a 90° angle so your breast tissue falls naturally forward. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust. The tape should be parallel to the floor and just touching the skin, not pulling it. This lean-forward method is used by professional fitters worldwide.

💡 Tip: Wear a non-padded bra or no bra for the most accurate reading.
📐

Snug Underbust

For the Snug Method, pull the tape measure fairly firmly, tighter than normal comfort, but not enough to cause pain or visible marks. This removes the need for the traditional "+4 inches" calculation and gives a more precise modern band size.

💡 Tip: You should just barely fit two fingers under the tape.
🧵

Loose Underbust

For the Loose Method, let the tape rest comfortably around your ribcage with minimal tension, you should easily slip 2–3 fingers underneath. This measurement is used in the traditional +4/+5 formula still used by many department stores and older sizing guides.

💡 Tip: Always measure in the same position, standing gives most consistent results.

Expert Advice

Fit Tips from the Experts

Getting the size right is just the beginning. These tips from professional bra fitters will help you find true comfort.

🔧

Start on the Loosest Hook

A new bra should fit comfortably on the loosest hook. As the bra stretches over time, you move to tighter hooks to maintain support.

👆

The Two-Finger Test

Slide two fingers under your band. If it's too easy, the band is too loose. If you can't fit them in, it's too tight.

Scoop & Swoop

Lean forward and gently scoop all breast tissue into the cup. This ensures all tissue is contained and the bra sits correctly.

📏

Check the Gore (Centre Panel)

The centre panel should lie flat against your sternum. If it's floating, try a larger cup. If it digs in, try a smaller cup.

🩱

Straps Are Support, Not Structure

Only 10–20% of support should come from straps. The band provides 80%. If straps dig in, try tightening your band instead.

🔄

Try Sister Sizes

Can't find your exact size? Sister sizes have the same cup volume: e.g., 34C = 32D = 36B in terms of cup fullness.

🌡️

Re-measure Every Year

Weight changes, hormones, pregnancy and ageing all affect your bra size. Re-measure annually or whenever your clothes fit differently.

🛍️

Brand Sizing Varies

Sizes aren't universal across brands. When trying a new brand, try your calculated size plus one size up and one down.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about bra sizing, measurement methods, and fit.

Why does the calculator give different results to the +4 method I used before?
The traditional "+4 method" was developed when bras were made with more rigid fabrics and less stretch. Modern bras use stretch elastic that conforms to the body, so the old formula tends to give band sizes that are 2–4 sizes too large. Our Standard and Snug methods give a more accurate result for modern lingerie.
What are sister sizes and why do they matter?
Sister sizes are bra sizes that share the same cup volume. For example, 32D, 34C, and 36B all have the same amount of cup space, only the band length differs. If your exact size is unavailable, a sister size will give the same cup fit. Go up a band, down a cup, or down a band, up a cup.
Is there a difference between US and UK bra sizing?
Band numbers are identical between US and UK sizing. The difference appears in extended cup sizes: what the US calls "DDD" is called "E" in the UK. From F onwards, the UK labeling tends to be more intuitive and consistent. Australian sizing follows UK conventions.
Can bra size change due to weight loss or gain?
Yes, absolutely. Both band size and cup size can change with weight fluctuation, as breast tissue changes. Hormonal changes (menstrual cycle, pregnancy, menopause) also affect sizing. We recommend re-measuring every 6–12 months or whenever your current bras feel noticeably different.
My band feels right but the cups are wrong, what do I do?
If the cups overflow or gap, adjust cup size while keeping your band size, this is called "sister sizing." If you have quad-boob (spillage), go up one cup size. If you have gaping cups, go down one cup size. The band size should remain the same for a correct underbust measurement.
Should I measure with a bra on or off?
For the most accurate results, measure without a bra, or while wearing a non-padded, well-fitting bra. Padded or push-up bras add volume and distort your actual measurements. Remove any thick clothing and measure directly against your skin.
Why do European bra sizes use different numbers?
European band sizing is based on the actual underbust measurement in centimetres (rounded to the nearest 5cm), while US/UK sizing uses inches with the +4 addition formula. French/Spanish sizing adds 15 to the EU number, giving a result like 85 or 90. Italian sizing uses sequential numbers starting from 0.
What is a "full bust" vs "upper bust" measurement?
Your full bust measurement is taken at the widest, fullest point of your chest (usually across the nipples). The upper bust measurement is taken above the breasts, just below the armpits. The full bust is used for bra sizing. The upper bust is sometimes used in dress sizing to indicate bra size recommendations on clothing labels.
